So your ready to move. How will you move? There are 3 basic moving options.
1. Rent a truck, pack & deliver your filled boxes and furniture yourself
2. Hire a moving company to pack up and deliver your household items
3. Use a moving company service that will drop off large storage units for you to fill
yourselfMany moving expenses are tax deductible especially if it is due to job
re-location, so keep all receipts.
Take inventory of your home. Donate items that you no longer want or have a yard sale.
Check insurance coverage for your possessions while in transit. Check
for "replacement value" insurance if using a moving company.
If you must ask a friend or relative to help with your move, please offer them a gift
certificate to a restaurant or their favorite store in return. As much as people say
"no problem" they really do not wish to spend their weekend
moving someone else. Be prepared to help them move in the future. |
